You will never get the same platform as Wizkid, Davido, or Burna Boy- Shatta Wale to Stonebwoy

Shatta Wale, a dancehall musician from Ghana, has harshly slammed Stonebwoy over a recent interview he had with TV host Berla Mundi.

On August 24, Stonebwoy took part in a live Twitter chat with Berla Mundi where they discussed the state of the Ghanaian music scene in the wake of Asake's well-received performance at London's O2 stadium.

Additionally, Stonebwoy's manager explained why his artist was unable to attend the Afronation Detroit festival, citing incidents of gatekeeping and sabotage by specific Nigerian business heavyweights.

When questioned about the pressures Ghanaian musicians are under to equal the successes of their Nigerian counterparts, Stonebwoy said that these pressures won't have a meaningful impact until the proper frameworks are put in place. He underlined the need for greater industry awareness in order to enable the required level of growth.

In contrast, Shatta Wale publicly disagreed with Stonebwoy's viewpoints in a video that went viral on social media. He harshly condemned Stonebwoy, saying that his actions hurt his reputation and that he would never be as well-known and respected as the well-known Nigerian musicians.

“Stonebwoy was asked if he was facing pressure, and he said no pressure, but awareness. You dress and do your Instagram photos like Burna Boy. Hasn’t anyone told you? You are facing pressure, which is why you want to go on stage later, you want to be on stage at the same time as Wizkid? Look at what you did at AfroNation Detroit. You were given time to come on stage, you wanted to go at the time you wanted.

“You allow yourself to be paid $10,000 while Burna Boy gets paid $300,000. Did you expect to be treated like an important person? You are just a curtain raiser!! You will never get the same platform as Wizkid, Davido, or Burna Boy!” he said.

Shatta Wale is not shy about sharing his opinions about other musicians in the Ghanaian music industry. When he praised Asake's achievement at the O2 Arena while simultaneously criticizing Ghanaian artists for not reaching comparable heights, he received a lot of anger for his comments.
