Kwahu Tafo Chief threatens, "If one person is attacked in our community, we'll attack all Fulani herdsmen."

The residents of Kwahu Tafo Community in Kwahu East District, along with their chief, Nana Kwasi Opoku Mintah, have issued a warning: if the Fulani herdsmen attacks continue, they would take the law into their own hands.

The traditional elder bemoaned how too often herders were attacking them and threatened to protect themselves if they did not stop.

He presented the statements to the chiefs and locals at a durbar. He also threatened to use force to force the authorities to remove the herders from their community if they did not comply.

Nana Kwasi Opoku Mintah underlined that the ranchers will be forced to shoot all of the livestock on the property if they refuse to follow the evacuation instructions or remove their animals from their properties.

The Fulani herders in the area are instructed to confine their animals inside the ranch or transport them outside as they are starting a thorough evacuation drill without leaving any cattle on their farms, according to the Chief.

"It is not our intention to drive you out of our community. But you have engaged in illegal operations and terrorised our people. We treated you nicely and provided you with a place to stay, but you did not manage it well.

"As a result, I request that you vacate the premises. I'm also warning other chiefs in the area who have granted them lands to be cautious because if they extend into our community, we'll deal with the chiefs. In the event of an attack by one individual in our community, we will pounce on all herders in the community.

"We are serious and ready to defend ourselves. We had no intention of doing this, but the herders have terrorised us for far too long, and we must defend ourselves. That is why I am calling to everyone willing to help us deal with this situation to come to our aid.

"We will battle until all of the herdsmen have been driven out of the village. If the president and his vice president want peace, they should address the matter with his appointments," he said.

Taking advantage of the opportunity, he assured farmers that he would stabilize the situation and that he would not waver in his attempts to keep farmers safe by driving out herdsmen from the area.

Additionally, he called on the government to come and help them drive the herdsmen off their land through the Area MP, the Interior Minister, and all security agencies.
