Man fined GH$5,000 and 4 goats for having sex with a friend's wife and daughter in central region

 

Yaw Adade, also known as Odenkey, an electrician from Denkyira Ayanfuri in the Central Region, was fined for having sex with a friend's wife and her 13-year-old daughter.

For his despicable actions, he must pay GH$5,000, four goats, and schnapps. The disclosure was made when a friend of the woman chose to tell her husband about the affairs, which prompted the community elders to intervene and settle the conflict using customary rites and punishments.

The suspect, an electrician, was good friends with Agya Owusu, a miner. Agya Owusu put his wife and kids to the suspect's care while he was gone at work, considering him a trustworthy and intimate friend, according to information acquired.

When it was discovered that Odenkey had engaged in sexual activity with family members, his confidence was betrayed. She continued by saying that the daughter, who was 13 years old, found out about her mother's romance with Odenkey and told a friend about it. This led to the discovery of Odenkey's concurrent relationship with Agya Owusu's wife and their 13-year-old daughter.

The young lady made the decision to break up with Odenkey after realizing the seriousness of her actions and the taboo nature of their connection.

But Odenkey's relationship with Agya Owusu's wife persisted until the woman's friend made the decision to tell Agya Owusu, who then brought the situation before the community's elders.

The elders decided that Odenkey's actions were a grave breach of traditional values and norms as a result, and in order to please the local gods and purify the spirits of those involved, they imposed the aforementioned fine on him.

On Sunday, September 17, 2023, the suspect was then hauled before the Chiefs at the Palace, where he admitted to the crime. Then he was told to bring everything they would need for the rituals.

The victim's husband has filed for divorce in the interim.
