Two alleged soldiers disarmed, beaten to a pulp at galamsey site in Central Region

At an illegal mining site in Assin Asuoankomaso, in the Assin North District of the Central Region, on Sunday evening, two suspected military officers were brutally attacked.

The claimed soldiers are said to have attempted an operation at a galamsey location in Yaw Saman close to Assin Kushia but were unsuccessful, according to information acquired by Kasapa News Yaw Boagyan.

The supposed soldiers were beaten by the  illegal miners in a struggle after being disarmed by the enraged galamseyers.

The young people of Assin Asuoankomaso who thought the purported troops were criminals attacked them severely when they arrived because they were unfamiliar with the area.

The Youth claimed that they believed the soldiers were robbers who had purposefully dressed in military uniform to rob people at the Galamsey location. But the soldiers were fortunate because the Assin Praso police quickly intervened and saved them.

The injured are being treated at Assin Praso Presbyterian Hospital, and a police investigation has already been opened.
