My focus will be completing stalled projects within 6 months - Dr. Frank Amoakohene

Ashanti's newly appointed Regional Minister-designate, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, has set a clear and determined agenda for his first six months in office—focusing on completing the region’s unfinished projects before embarking on new ones. His approach aims to ensure the continued development of Ashanti while addressing the pressing need to make the most of public investments that have already been made.

In a recent interview with Nhyira FM’s Kwadwo Jantuah, Dr. Amoakohene revealed that his initial months will be dedicated to a comprehensive review of all outstanding projects in the region, irrespective of the administration that began them. This holistic assessment will form the basis for his development strategy moving forward.

“We’ll make sure to complete the unfinished projects before starting any new ones. This will involve a detailed evaluation of all ongoing projects, regardless of which government initiated them,” said Dr. Amoakohene. He highlighted that this effort supports President John Mahama’s broader vision for continuity in governance, ensuring that valuable projects are not abandoned simply due to political changes.

A significant example of such stalled projects in the Ashanti region is the E-block initiative, started under the Mahama administration. Out of 13 planned E-blocks, only four are fully operational, despite substantial funds already being allocated. According to Dr. Amoakohene, the goal is to address the gaps in these projects and prevent taxpayers' money from going to waste.

"We can't afford to let the money already invested in these projects go to waste," he emphasized. "For the next six months, I will focus on a holistic approach to completing all stalled projects to ensure the resources benefit the people of Ashanti."

In addition to completing these projects, Dr. Amoakohene views the creation of jobs as a top priority. He believes that by reviving and completing stalled projects, new opportunities for employment will arise, helping to boost local economies and provide sustainable livelihoods for the people. He observed that many of the challenges faced by Ghanaians are tied to economic stability and business growth.

"During our campaigns across various communities, it was clear that many of our citizens are focused on practical solutions to their daily needs," he shared. "When businesses succeed and more jobs are created, people can support themselves and their families. This is the key to fostering stronger communities and, ultimately, a stronger relationship between the people and the government."

As Dr. Amoakohene begins his tenure, he has called on the people of Ashanti to support his efforts to drive progress and ensure that no project is left unfinished. With a focus on job creation and economic growth, he is committed to making a lasting difference for the region.
