MUSIGA to host concert for up-and-coming musicians on March 6 – Bessa Simons

The Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) has announced plans to hold a concert for aspiring musicians on March 6.

According to MUSIGA, the concert would provide an opportunity for upcoming talent to demonstrate their abilities.

The National Theatre will host the event in cooperation with the Akwaaba Festival.

Bessa Simons, interim president of MUSIGA, expressed confidence about the upcoming event, emphasizing the importance of exposing fresh talents and helping them obtain exposure.

“We are collaborating with the Akwaaba Festival to have a show at the forecourt of the National Theatre and what we are doing is, the young, up-and-coming musicians who don’t normally have big stages, light, Facebook thing for them, they will come and showcase their talents.

“We are inviting the managers, corporate world, just look at them and see if you can do business with them because these are the future we have,” he said on Joy FM.

Bessa Simons further indicated that on March 5, 2024, a music and tourism workshop, as well as a health assessment for musicians, will be held at the Accra Tourist Information Centre.

MUSIGA also plans to launch a project called "Let's Play Ghana Music" on March 11, 2024, with the goal of reigniting popular interest in Ghanaian music.

In addition, another performance will be held at the Gold Coast Restaurant on March 30, 2024, to promote highlife music.
