Benjamine Doe Kuwornu, a Police Chief Inspector assigned to the Central Region, has been placed under arrest by the Ghana Police Service for personal misconduct.
According to a police statement on Tuesday, "The Office is accused of misnapping himself in a video that the Police Administration has viewed."
This will enable a comprehensive inquiry of his actions in compliance with Police Service Regulations to take place.
“We would like to reiterate our assurance to the general public that the Police Service will continue to ensure that professionalism is maintained at all times in the discharge of our mandate,” the statement stated.
A police officer assigned to the Takoradi District Police Command, № 49187 General Corporal Wise Bessey, was also placed under interdict by the Service last week for allegedly assaulting a member of the public in Takoradi, Western Region.
The interdiction is intended to give time for a comprehensive inquiry of the occurrence and the police officer's professional behavior in accordance with Police Service Regulations.
The victim was contacted by Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), who informed him that the event would be thoroughly investigated and that necessary police help would be provided.
The Police released a statement on Friday, February 2, saying, "We would like to assure the general public that the Police will continue to ensure that professionalism is maintained at all times in the discharge of our mandate."
