The Guinness World Record (GWR) for the longest gum chewing by an individual is being attempted by Ghanaian artiste Maame, however she unexpectedly fell asleep while trying to break the record.
The Ghanaian woman was seen sleeping off in a chair, her head resting on her arms near her right cheek, in a widely shared video on Saturday.
This came after she had attempted her gum-chewing GWR for seven hours.
She was about to abandon her attempt at setting a record.
A few minutes later, in an attempt to stay awake and finish her record attempt, she started humming a song and raising her hands in the air.
On Friday, February 9, artist Maame started her seven-day gum-chewing marathon attempt with the goal of breaking the existing record, which stands at 41 hours of gum chewing.
The simple guidelines for this unusual record are to keep a straight face and chew gum in moderation while being continuously timed and recorded by a crew.
