Ghana to introduce free visa entry for visiting Africans by end of 2024

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo declared on Thursday that by the end of 2024, all African visitors to Ghana will be able to enter the country without a visa.

By the end of 2024, all African visitors to Ghana will be able to enter the country without a visa, according to a policy that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo announced on Thursday.

Akufo-Addo stated at the opening of the 2024 Africa Prosperity Dialogue in Ghana's Eastern Region that the gesture is in keeping with the goals of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) to create a seamless single market on the continent to drive economic growth, job creation, and poverty eradication.

In addition, Akufo-Addo stated that such policies are required across the continent to ensure the free movement of people, goods, and services in order to use trade as a catalyst for economic transformation in Africa. "The government of Ghana is committed to ensuring visa-free entry for all Africans traveling to our country," Akufo-Addo stated.

The AfCFTA Secretariat and the think tank African Prosperity Network sponsor the annual Africa Prosperity Dialogue, which provides a forum for Africa's leaders to interact, establish collaborations, and pledge to realize the African Union's Agenda 2063.
