The Inspector General of Police (IGP), George Akuffo Dampare, has been sued by a group of 40 Police Chief Inspectors in the Ghana Police Service for what they believe to be an arbitrary denial of their promotion.
The High Court in Kumasi has received a writ on behalf of these police officers, according to a report by Graphic Online.
They contend that they were not included in a series of promotions that the service had started, which were intended to provide special amnesty to police officers who earned degrees before 2020 after they enlisted in the service.
The 40 plaintiffs are asking the court to issue an order compelling the IGP and other defendants to promote them, give them direct access into the Police Academy, and pay them for the income they lost as a result of not receiving promotions.
