A Florida apartment building was struck by a helicopter, killing two individuals instantly. On Monday just before 9 a.m. local time, the fire-rescue helicopter crashed close to the Pompano Beach Airpark, according to the Broward Sheriff's Office. When the helicopter crashed, there were three persons inside.

According to officials, 50-year-old Captain Terryson Jackson of the Broward Sheriff's Office perished in the collision.

According to the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), a second individual died on the ground as well.

A long plume of smoke and flames are shown in online video footage emanating from the helicopter's middle. The chopper suddenly seems to split in two and starts to spiral down to the ground.

Two crew members of the helicopter and two others on the ground were rushed to the hospital, officials earlier reported, and all were thought to be in stable condition. According to authorities, the fire rescue chopper was en route to a scene in North Lauderdale. About 40 miles separate Pompano Beach from Miami.
