Vice-Chancellor: "UEW is undergoing a transformative shift to a smart campus."

Prof. Stephen Jobson Mitchual, the vice-chancellor of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), has announced the university's intention to become a smart campus and bring in a new era of efficiency and creativity in technology.

Speaking to the graduating class of 2023 at the Jophus Anamuah-Mensah Conference Centre, Prof. Mitchual emphasized the introduction of a dynamic website that was just launched, as well as the continuous use of an online platform for requests for transcripts and English language proficiency.

These programs are essential to UEW's commitment to technology development and delivering a seamless experience for stakeholders and students.

In order to improve the university's ICT infrastructure, the Vice-Chancellor unveiled ambitious plans that included expanding the ICT fiber optic backbone network throughout all of the campuses.

A committed team has been entrusted with creating an internal Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) System in an effort to adopt a paperless agenda.

This system has the potential to completely transform administrative procedures by automating jobs like personnel confirmation, promotions, and appointments.

He made a suggestion that difficulties with staff confirmation, promotions, and appointments will soon be resolved, meaning that people may monitor their promotion from the comfort of their office after submission.

The launch of an online internship system, intended to streamline the internship program, is one of the main attractions.

"We are strategically working towards replacing all markerboards in the lecture rooms with smart boards. This will significantly improve the quality of teaching and learning at UEW," Prof. Mitchual reaffirmed, reassuring academic staff and students that the smart campus project will revolutionize standards for education.

At the first session of the 28th Congregation, which is slated to take place from Monday, January 22, to Saturday, January 27, 2024, 15,817 students will graduate in total. Of this number, 227 students, or 1.4% of the total, would receive diplomas, 14,858 students, or 93.9%, would receive bachelor's degrees, and 732 students, or 4.7% of the total, would receive various postgraduate degrees.

UEW is inviting its community to embrace this revolutionary change as the smart campus concept takes shape. This is a critical time in determining how the university will provide education in the future. The focus to innovation and advancement is consistent with UEW's goal of maintaining leadership in the field of exceptional education in the digital era.
